104: Accountability – Friday Fundamentals

Have you ever found yourself wanting a change in your life? Maybe a change in scenery, job, routine, or lifestyle?  If so, you’re not alone. Many people are unhappy with their status quo. However, most never do anything to change their situation.

People go about their lives wishing for more happiness, fulfillment, success, and freedom. They hope on “some day”, or push things for “another time”, continuously delaying until “the time is right”. These people are the ones who delay gratification due to a  scarcity mindset.

Some people like to only dream, and that’s okay. We’ve all played the scenario in our head of how we would spend our winnings if we won the lottery.

But there comes a time when you must take accountability for your own success.

As Grant Cardone says, “Success is your duty”.

No one is going to knock down your door and hand you an opportunity. You, and only you, are responsible for creating your own opportunities, and ultimately your success. This starts with accountability. By holding yourself accountable, you are telling yourself that although things happen that are out of your control, it’s your responsibility to take those things and make the best of them.

People are the most creative when making excuses for themselves. Added responsibility, longer work hours, risk, uncertainty, higher taxes, more headaches… the list goes on and on of reasons why one shouldn’t strive for the things they truly want.

Ask yourself, “How will I feel if I never pursue the things that I want?”. Consider the costs of not pursuing your dreams and goals. Sure, you might stumble and make mistakes. But if you never give up, you will eventually reach your goals. So hold yourself accountable, take action, and pursue your dreams tirelessly.

By ignoring your dreams and goals, you’re are only burying your head in the sand. You are only kicking the can down the road, in hopes of addressing things later. Don’t blame things out of your control. Don’t let others control your success.

Take accountability for your success. Hold yourself responsible for pursing your dreams and goals. Remember, if you never quit, you can never never fail.
